Move Forward
And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to GO FORWARD” Exodus 14:15
The children of Israel were free from slavery miraculously by God through 10 plagues but were now being pursued by the huge Egyptian army. They were in fear and wondered why they left Egypt in the first place when they would rather have stayed under Egyptian slavery than to die in the wilderness.
But Then the Lord tells them to trust Him. He will save them. God wanted them to watch Him work. He then told Moses to tell them to GO FORWARD. Their choices were:
1. Stay still and be destroyed by the Egyptian Army
2. GO FORWARD and face a huge Red Sea and drown
What did God tell them to do? He told them to MOVE FORWARD.
God knew He was going to part the sea. They would never have been able to cross the sea had they not moved forward. The best part is, God didn’t just tell them to move forward without taking care of them. He would never tell them to do something only to leave them hanging.
The scripture says this:
Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel’s army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them. Exodus: 14:19
We serve a God who protects us however He needs to protects us. He goes before us. He goes behind us. He surrounds us. We are blanketed with God’s protection. The children of Israel could have decided to stand still and allow the Egyptian Army to kill them.
What a tragedy it would have been had they been freed from slavery only to die in the wilderness by their grand army.
What a tragedy it would be in our own lives, after we’ve seen miracle after miracle, to just stand still and let the devil destroy us. God wants us to MOVE FORWARD.
What’s your Red Sea? God can’t get you through it if you’re not willing to move forward! He’s ready to protect you any way He needs to, but you’re going to have to take the first step. Today GO FORWARD. MOVE FORWARD.
