Closed Doors
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13
I admit, sometimes God tries to tell me things and I don’t get it on the first, second, or third try. In fact, it has taken me way too long to understand that a certain door is a closed door. I guess you could say in my own strength I tried prying the door open.
I’m tempted though, to try to understand why the door is shut. Then the moment of clarity hits. When He shuts a door, He opens a better one. His thoughts and plans are way better than my thoughts and plans. He gives us hope and a future! He wants only the very best for us! His best is so much greater than our best.
That makes life so much more exciting, doesn’t it? I had an idea of what I’d like to see happen, but His plan is so much bigger and better that anything I could ever dream.
It gets even better! Once He opens a door, no man can shut it. I look forward with expectancy and excitement as I search His word and timing for the open door and His perfect, better plan.
