:30 Seconds to Eternity

:30 seconds- the amount of time it takes to wash your hands, heat a cup of water in the microwave, or plug your cell phone in to charge it. 30 seconds, the amount of time it takes to back up your computer or floss your teeth. 30 seconds- the amount of time until the wheels of a plane were going to meet the ground but instead collided with a helicopter and exploded.

In the whole scope of things 30 seconds is a blink of an eye. 30 seconds seems completely insignificant. Not a lot can happen in 30 seconds. What if the airplane waited an extra 30 seconds before departure? Could that have made a difference between life and death? Would 67 people still be alive if they were stalled on the runway for an extra 30 seconds?

Not one of the 67 people who lost their lives had any idea what was about to happen. Not one of them realized their eternity was about to begin. I can’t help but wonder how their last 30 seconds would have been different had they known it was their last 30 seconds.

Suddenly, 30 seconds seems like an eternity. Maybe a lot more can happen in 30 seconds than we ever dreamed possible. 30 seconds can be time to say I love you, ask forgiveness, or embrace the ones you love.

30 seconds can change the route of our eternity. In 30 seconds, we can confess Jesus as our Lord and Savior. 30 seconds can mean the difference between heaven and hell. Wow! All the sudden, 30 seconds is an infinite amount of time.

Have you asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior? It’s starts with 30 seconds and ends with the eternal significance of everlasting life. (John 3:16)
